BURRELL -SEVERS
EXTRUSION RHEOMETER
MODEL
A-120
Catalog No. 73-851-20
| The Burrell-Severs Extrusion Rheometer determines the rheological properties of substances that will flow at room temperature with the application of pressure from 0 to 100psi, in a viscosity range of 1 to 1-million centipoises. The instrument can be used for production control or quality control as well as for the determination of fundamental data.

| OPERATION | APPLICATIONS | ||||||||
| Under test conditions , a series of extrusions is made through a calibrated orifice into containers at geometrically increasing pressures eg (5,10,20,40,80psi). Nitrogen, from a commercial cylinder, is utilized to create the pressure. The rate of flow in cubic centimeters per second is calculated from the density, weight and the elapsed time of each extrusion. The viscosity in poises, the rate of shear and the shear stress are derived with formulas provided in the Operating Manual. Observed and measured values are used for applied pressure, radius, length of orifice, and the volume of the material extruded. Graphic curves may be drawn which will show the working properties of a material under different rates of shear and stress.
