Superior Weld Contacts for Precise Temperature Monitoring The Burrell KUP-L-WELD® II welder is a complete, easy-to-use, self-contained unit for the instantaneous welding of thermocouples. Features include: Illuminated Work Area Graduated Power Control Push-button, Power Activator Internal Cooling Fan Flash Protection Viewing Screen Pen-style, Alligator-clamp Holder Versatile The KUP-L-WELD® II welder is recommended for welding 30- to 14-gauge constantan; platinum, platinum/rhodium; iron constantan; and CHROMEL®*-ALUMEL®*. Convenient, Safe Simply plug the unit's electric cord into a convenient, properly grounded, 3-prong, 110 to 120 volt, ac power source and the KUP-L-WELD® II welder is ready to operate. When the power is activated to make a thermocouple weld, this 60-cycle unit draws up to 28 amps so it requires a minimum 30-amp circuit. During welding, a fully adjustable, flash-protection viewing screen protects the operator. And the illuminated work area provides the operator with good visibility of the wire's contact with the electrode—this is an important feature for maintaining consistent thermocouple quality. Easy to Use The operator sets the Current Adjustment control to the appropriate setting—the maximum of 10 for most welds. However, it is adjustable from 1 to 10 depending on the wire gauge. The KUP-L-WELD® II can be set to draw from a minimum of 19 amps up to a maximum of 28 amps. After twisting together the ends of a thermocouple wire, the operator grasps the wire with the KUP-L-WELD® II's pen-style, alligator-clamp holder. The wire is then moistened and dipped into a flux. The operator positions the wire for welding by holding the fluxed thermocouple wire against the electrode while observing the wire's position. The welding circuit is activated and a weld is made when the operator presses the KUP-L-WELD® II power button. Compact, Durable The KUP-L-WELD® II Thermocouple Welder is 9" wide x 13-1/2" deep x 8" high and takes up less than one square foot of counter space. It weighs just 4 lbs., so it can be easily moved. The metal case is finished with an abrasion- and corrosion-resistant paint.
